Recap 15

Did the first Bowlstock really happen?

Sometimes things just fall into place. We had started out on April 22nd with a first chaotic meeting at Fryshuset indoor skatepark in Stockholm. Present were: Bjorn Gevert, David Hall, Putte Svensson, Uffe Andersson, Anders Karlsson, Denis Sopovic, Johan Sandström, Micke Valier, Lasse Punk and Casper Plass. (Lasse and Casper did not actively participate in the work, Lasse was booked for a Metallica concert, and Casper was busy with Fryshuset work) (Other names who have put in efforts will be mentioned on our thanks page) We tried to figure out some roles, and started discussing what date to hold the event. who knew who, and what everyone could do. We were going to kick off Bowlstock with small ambitions, get something up there for the first year, build on it and make it grow year by year.

August 22nd came, and Highvalley Skateworld was filled with over 4000 visitors, skaters, food trucks, market tents, chopper motorcycles, skate artists, a swap meet, musicians, punkers and rock stars. There were bowl competitions in Highvalley’s deep bowls all day, and at night, rock and punk bands took to a huge stage rig brought in by Marshall, who were releasing their London smartphone the same weekend. We had gotten a lot of prize money for the skaters (40 000 skr), and 20 000 to pay our rock stars. Ourselves, we got no money, but lots of laughs, and memories of an event that went so well, with Socal weather, and rock stars like Ebbot, Patrik Arve and Glen Matlock from The Sex Pistols. Jocke_air_audience_1
